Who is Sophia Isabel?

Sophia Kunju Herrera is an independent fashion designer originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Five years ago she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design to start her career goal to become a fashion designer. 23 years ago her family’s and her life changed dramatically; the five of them were involved in a horrific car accident with a drunk driver causing Sophia to become paralyzed from the waist down. She has been using a manual wheelchair for 23 years now. She is an independent, strong, and ambitious woman who strives to achieve her goals and stands for what she believes in. Sure life changed for her physically but that has not stopped her to pursue her career in Fashion Design. She recently completed her senior collection “Imperfectly Perfect” where it explores her personal experience with her disability and how she wants to advocate that it doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like, you can wear anything and feel empowered, beautiful, independent and strong. So what’s next for Sophia? After getting her undergraduate degree in Fashion Design, she is going to continue her studies and pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Luxury & Brand Management at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, she has the amazing opportunity to showcase her designs at New York Fashion Week in February 2022.
